Relaxation Massage
Ease the stress of daily life. Calm your mind and body. Our gentlest massage option applies lighter pressure and a broader approach, allowing your mind and body to unwind completely. Relax and enjoy. (And if you don't want to say a word during treatment, just let us know!) You may get some home care (stretches/exercises), but it will be pretty easy. Appointment times range from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
Therapeutic Massage
When you have minor aches and pains or feel you're not moving as well as you used to, this is the massage for you. Our first treatment starts by discussing your specific goals and desired areas of focus while highlighting potential issues. After we identify your specific needs and preferences, we design a tailored plan that employs a combination of general and targeted techniques. Pressure can range from lighter to deeper depending on your tolerance and comfort.
These sessions also provide home care (stretches/exercises), so you continue to feel better after your treatment. If you're not sure which massage to get, this is the one we recommend! Appointment times range from 45 minutes to 90 minutes.
Cupping
There are a few different styles of this ancient modality. At Æble Massage Therapy, we use the "dry" and "running" cupping methods only. The stationary cups used in the dry approach can be adjusted in intensity and are left on for a few minutes. The running method uses either standard cups or softer silicone cups (which have a slightly gentler suction) that are moved along the surface of the skin after some oil or lotion has been applied. These techniques are used to draw blood to or away from an area, and can help release fascial restrictions, relax muscles, and reduce pain. Appointment times range from 45 minutes to 60 minutes.
**Please note this treatment usually leaves temporary marks on the skin that will fade anywhere from a few hours later, to 1-2 weeks later.**
Indie Head Massage
This deeply soothing massage technique has its roots in the Ayurvedic medical system, but has been adapted for massage in Ontario, hence the slight variation in name. This is an excellent choice to incorporate into your existing health plan for the treatment of depression and anxiety, stress relief, reducing sinus pain, as well as helping with blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, and relieving jaw pain, neck pain, and headaches. Please note that this treatment involves the use of either heated apricot oil or holly oil, and that some of the oil will be poured into your hair. If you have a preference for one oil over the other, or any allergies we should be aware of, please let us know. Appointment times range from 45 minutes to 60 minutes.
**Warm oil is poured into the hair during this treatment. Please keep this in mind when booking your appointment.**
Hot Stone Massage
Melt your tension away! Smooth Basalt stones are used for their ability to retain heat well, and they are wonderful for helping to loosen tight muscles and improve circulation, and even boost lymphatic flow and metabolism! Please make sure you have water to drink after your appointment - important with any massage, but this one especially. Stones are sometimes used in a stationary fashion over a towel to loosen particular areas, but they are also used to work into the muscles like an extension of your therapist's hands for more concentrated, specific work. Appointment times range from 45 minutes to 60 minutes.
